In painting the sky and land relationship I’m aware of an internal conversation linking the essence of past and present ideals. Though rooted in observation, it is more essential my paintings depict a reflection of truth, a rightness and embodiment of place, a personal interpretation rather than an exact reproduction. The imagery of sky, land and other elements are references to humankind’s common bond, a dialogue shared with others sheltered under the same sky. I seek to capture the moment–a fleeting memory, an encounter for the first time, a moment of awe or one of complete stillness. The sojourn underneath the sky represents the shared journey, the mystery and the ongoing query.
